Case Presentation: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome - Case 1
History and Physical
70+ yo veterinarian surgeon with complaint of loss of manual dexterity, numbness, and pain along the median distribution of the right hand.
On examination he had positive Tinel and Phalen’s sign. He had significant weakness in grip and loss of sensation along the first second and half of third fingers.
EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies revealed severe carpal tunnel syndrome on both sides.
Having failed conservative measures he was considered a good candidate for carpal tunnel release.
In the OR the planned incision is marked in blue. Patient has undergone regional anesthesia.
Incision was closed and patient was discharged home the same day.
Post operative Course
Patient’s tremor in Left upper extremity nearly completely resolved after the operation
