Oligodendroglioma Overview:

 

  • Oligodendroglioma is a well-differentiated, slow-growing cortical and subcortical brain tumor.

  • Peak age is 35 to 40 years with no sex predominance.

  • Patients usually present with seizures.

  • Location usually involves the subcortical white matter and cortex.

  • Best diagnostic clue radiographically is calcified subcortical or cortical mass in middle-aged adults.

  • Up to 85% are supratentorial.

  • Frontal lobe is the most common location.

  • It has a higher frequency of hemorrhage than other glial tumors.
